Image analysis

The unicorn trebor advert.

Where is the camera?
To the viewer, the horse seems bigger because of the way the camera angle is and therefore since the mint is in view line the viewer looks at it, which is what the ad is advertising. Also making the unicorn seemingly bigger it gives the suggestion that it is superior in size. This links to 'discerning' from the slogan because although unicorns aren't real they are seen as extremely rare and magical in fairy tales and therefore the most elite of horses.

What choices has the photographer made?
The white background emphasizes the theme of purity and luxury even though it may not be an instant choice as the mint and unicorn is also white. The black evening glove with jewels on contrasts with the white background however links in with the luxury and 'discerning' meaning they show a high class wealthy item to have. The idea of the viewer not seeing who the arm belongs to divert the attention to the mint and not to whom the arms belongs to.

What objects have been captured in the image?
The evening gloves and diamond jewellery emphasizes the quality of the mint and how prestigious the mint is that something as rare as a unicorn being fed the mint by a hand of luxury. This also goes against stereotypes of a stable girl as they usually wear khaki colours.
The photos of the packet at the bottom of the advert is bold and draws the eyes attention to it because its the only part of the advert that uses colours that aren't neutral as it uses a strong green, which also suggests that the mints are strong (which they are meant to be)
